Vikings all-pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes left Sunday night’s game against the Packers with an apparent hamstring injury, and a respected sports injury specialist is worried that Rhodes might need surgery.
David J. Chao, who goes by @ProFootballDoc on Twitter, speculated on the severity of the injury after seeing video of Rhodes grabbing his hamstring.

“This video has me worried,” Chao wrote. “Based on the position of injury, worry for proximal hamstring avulsion injury. If true, it is one of the few hamstring injuries that require surgery.”
This video has me worried.
(thanks, had not seen this)

Rhodes left the game in the fourth quarter under his own power, although he was severely limping and did not return to the game.
Another injury expert saw Rhodes’ injury and tweeted that he could see his hamstring “visibly snap.”
Xavier Rhodes hamstring just visibly snapped. I can’t remember ever seeing that. Yeesh.

Undrafted rookie Holton Hill replaced Rhodes and that could be the case this coming Sunday against Tom Brady and the Patriots.
Minnesota lost first-round pick Mike Hughes (cornerback) to a torn ACL earlier this season, so if Rhodes is done for the year the only healthy cornerbacks left on the roster are Hill, Trae Waynes, Mackensie Alexander and Marcus Sherels.
