The stellar pitching career of ex-Twins ace Johan Santana might be over.
Santana has re-torn his surgically-repaired left shoulder and is likely headed for another major surgery, according to the Pioneer Press.
If he chooses to have the operation, Santana, 34, will miss all of 2013, the final year of his contract with the New York Mets.
Santana missed 2011 following his first shoulder surgery, not making it back to the majors until last April.
He went 6-9 with a 4.85 ERA in 21 starts, and threw the first no-hitter in Mets history on June 1 against St. Louis.
Santana, who is owed $25.5 million in the final guaranteed season of his $137.5 million, six-year contract, is expected to decide his next steps by Monday, the Associated Press reports.
