Drew Stubbs’ RBI double in the bottom of the tenth inning gave the Indians a walk-off win over the Twins, 7-6 Friday night in Cleveland.
The Twins jumped on Indians’ starter Justin Masterson with an sacrifice fly from Justin Morneau in the first inning and a solo home run from Trevor Plouffe in the second.
Minnesota starter Pedro Hernandez gave up five runs in 5 1/3 innings. Hernandez was pitching pretty well until his two-strike pitch to Mark Reynolds was launced halfway up the second deck in left field for a two-run home run, and a 4-2 Cleveland lead.
Chris Parmelee gave the Twins a 6-5 lead in the seventh with a two-run home run into the first row in the right field stands. It was his third homer of the season.
The Indians tied the game at six on Jason Kipnis’ RBI groundout in the eighth. Kipnis finished 2-5 with 4 RBI.
Kevin Correia (3-1, 2.23 ERA) will start Saturday’s game two of the three-game series in Cleveland.
