Maybe Johnny Manziel will be available when the Vikings go on the clock with the No. 8 pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
While a majority of mock drafts have Manziel going to the Texans, Jaguars, Browns or Raiders in the top five of the draft, one NFL great doesn’t think Manziel is worth selecting in the first three rounds.
“Manziel may fall. I’m not crazy about him, to be honest with you,” former Eagles great quarterback Ron Jaworski said, via Pro Football Talk. “I’ve only looked at five games. I wouldn’t take him in the first three rounds. That’s my opinion. It’s incomplete right now. But he has not done a whole lot to me.”
All four draft experts at CBSSports.com – Rob Rang, Dane Brugler, Pat Kirwin and Pete Prisco – have Manziel going in the top five of their latest mock drafts. Draft Insider Tony Pauline was at the NFL Combine over the past week and he came to the conclusion that most teams don’t rank Manziel in their top three quarterbacks.
In conversations here in Indy it’s apparent the quarterbacks stack up 1) Blake Bortles, 2) Teddy Bridgewater, 3) Derek Carr, 4) Johnny Manziel on a number of team boards.
Greg Cosell of NFL Films, who walks around with a bag full of notes on nearly every player in the draft, recently said Manziel looked “undraftable” in late-season performances against LSU and Missouri.
“He played two games this year, LSU and Missouri,(and) if those were the first two games you put on and watched, you’d say he was almost undraftable,” Cosell said. “He was so bad in those two games, that you’d struggle to figure out, can I even draft this guy?”
What if Johnny Football is on the board when it’s the Vikings’ turn to pick? What would you do?
