Another recruiting boost for the Gophers as 2021 tight end Jameson Geers committed to the University of Minnesota this week.
Geers, rated a 3-star recruit by 247Sports, is 6-foot-5 and 225 pounds and is ranked by 247Sports as the 18th-best tight end recruit in the national Class of 2021. 247Sports adds that Geers is the highest-rated tight end to commit to the Gophers in the Internet era.
Of course, Minnesota has had some good tight ends, including Maxx Williams, who now plays in the NFL. Williams wasn’t highly recruited out of high school, attending Waconia and starring as his prep team’s quarterback before making the full-time switch to tight end with the Gophers.

Geers also held offers from Wisconsin, Iowa, Purdue, Illinois, Northwestern, Iowa State, West Virginia and Duke, among others.
It’s still very early in the recruiting process, but as of Friday the Gophers’ 2021 recruiting class ranks 12th nationally and fourth in the Big Ten.
