The Minnesota Timberwolves suffered their ninth straight loss as they were defeated by the Charlotte Hornets 135-102 on Wednesday night.
Despite the final score, the Timberwolves were able to keep it close throughout the first half. Minnesota was led by Karl-Anthony Towns, who started the night off on a high note with a slam dunk off the opening tip.

Towns finished with a double-double, recording 16 points and 15 rebounds on the night, but Ricky Rubio also stood out. Although he didn’t get a double-double, Rubio came close, scoring a team-high 20 points and dishing out nine assists.

With Towns and Rubio leading the way, the Timberwolves went into halftime down 62-56. While Minnesota has played well in the first half under Chris Finch, the second-half woes continued for the Timberwolves.
Terry Rozier knocked down three straight 3-pointers to help take control of the game and finished the night with a game-high 31 points. Gordon Heyward (23 points, 9 assists) and LaMelo Ball (19 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists) also had big nights as the Hornets outscored the Wolves 36-20 in the third quarter.
The run would effectively end the night for the Timberwolves night and Minnesota was outscored 73-46 in the second half.
The loss wrapped up the first half of the season for the Timberwolves, who fell to 7-29. The Timberwolves will rest for the NBA All-Star break before beginning the second half of the year on Mar. 11 against the New Orleans Pelicans.
