The new-look Minnesota Wild are back home after stumbling on opening night to start the season in St. Louis, 3-2.
It took the Wild over eight minutes in the first period to get their first shot against the Blues. In all, St. Louis outshot Minnesota, 31-21.
Credit the Blues aggressiveness in the opener for this win. Minnesota was 0-5 on the power play, 32 Minnesota shots were blocked or missed the net and St. Louis goalie Jake Allen was superb. Allen handcuffed the Wild by stopping three Minnesota breakaways at the net.
The debut of new Minnesota head coach Bruce Boudreau is spoiled but the Wild look for redemption Saturday night at the Xcel Energy Center. The sold out home opener is set for a 6 p.m. face off against rival Winnipeg.
