Brian Dozier is the definition of a player who can get really cold and really hot. He was an All-Star in 2015 only to fade away badly in the second half of the season.
Those struggles carried over to this season when he was, to put it bluntly, brutal in April and May. But he’s been one of baseball’s most dangerous hitters ever since the calendar flipped to June.
- April – .191 AVG, 3 HR, 10 RBI
- May – .215 AVG, 2 HR, 7 RBI
- June – .369 AVG, 8 HR, 21 RBI
- July – .242 AVG, 6 HR, 16 RBI
- August – .311 AVG, 7 HR, 16 RBI
Overall, he was hitting just .202 at the end of May and now he’s up to .266. And over that same period he’s gone from 5 homers to 26 homers and from 7 doubles to 27 doubles.
Rapidly increasing power output
We’re only two weeks into August and Dozier has already homered in three straight games TWICE. He has 18 homers since June 25 – the most in all of baseball – and he’s slugged 11 of those in the last 30 days, according to Parker Hageman.
