Gophers senior guard Andre Hollins will miss Sunday’s game against Nebraska with a sprained ankle suffered Wednesday against Wisconsin.
Hollins injured the ankle on the first possession of the game for Minnesota and did not return in the upset win, which served as a bit of solace for head coach Richard Pitino postgame when he applauded role players for stepping up and filling the void in the victory over the No. 9 Badgers.
If there was ever a good time for the Gophers leading scorer to go down with injury, now was it, as Minnesota doesn’t play again until Saturday against Northwestern.
But news isn’t much better on Hollins for that game either, as Pitino said Minnesota will be smart with bringing him back, and that it was a “really, really bad injury.”
The Cornhuskers upset No. 17 Ohio State last time they were at home, but lost to lowly Penn State on the road late last week, while Sunday the Gophers are hoping to build on the momentum taken in their win over Wisconsin.
