The Gopher men’s basketball team (8-2) slammed the door on Southern University (2-7) early and never opened it back up in a 85-57 win at Williams Arena on Wednesday night.
Andre Hollins fueled Minnesota, playing with only nine scholarship players after the departure of freshman power forward Josh Martin, with 24 points on 9-of-11 shooting. He knocked down five 3-pointers and could have done more damage if he had played the final ten minutes of the game. DeAndre Mathieu added 10 points and five assists and Mo Walker and Carlos Morris each scored 11.
According to ESPN, Minnesota led by as many as 37 points in the second half. The Gophers shot 60 percent in the first half and finished with a blistering clip of 54.7 percent from the field.
After 85-57 win, Richard Pitino said that Hollins and Mathieu have "tremendous chemistry" right now. Definitely true in last five games.

The highlight of the game belonged to sophomore forward Charles Buggs, who pulled off an athletic move in transition for big dunk. Big Ten Network has the video proof.
