Timberwolves fans shouldn’t go penciling Russell Westbrook into their starting five just yet. It looks like Oklahoma City won’t deal their superstar – yet.
Now that Kevin Durant left the Thunder to join the Warriors, the thought earlier this week was that Oklahoma City would trade Westbrook before he could leave the team as a free agent next year.
However, Adrian Wojnarowski was on Colin Cowherd’s show Friday and said he doesn’t think the Thunder are going to put Westbrook on the trade block just yet.

The Timberwolves have been one of a few teams mentioned as potential trade partners with the Thunder. One deal even had Minnesota sending Zach LaVine and Ricky Rubio to Oklahoma City for Westbrook.
Thunder GM Sam Presti said after Durant’s decision that he planned to take a few days to evaluate his options on Westbrook. NBC Sports suggested that Presti could be just trying to create leverage and drive offers for Westbrook up.
However, Westbrook is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent next summer – so any trade made would have to come with an agreement from Westbrook to re-sign with the team.
