Twins outfielder Aaron Hicks tested out his injured hamstring by taking batting practice before the Twins played the White Sox Tuesday night at Target Field.
Hicks has been on the disabled list with a strained hamstring since June 10. He will be eligible to return from the DL June 25 at Miami.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire tells the Pioneer Press that Hicks will likely be sent on a rehab assignment.
“There will probably be a rehab somewhere in there,” Gardenhire said. “We can’t just stick him right back in and say his hammy is OK. We’re not quite there yet. Hopefully, we’re getting closer.”
Clete Thomas has filled in nicely for Hicks. The Star Tribune reports Thomas is hitting .381 since taking over in center field.
