It has to be deja vu all over again for Wolves swingman Chase Budinger.
Last season, Budinger missed 59 games due to a torn lateral meniscus in his left knee, and just four days in front of the Wolves reporting for training camp, Budinger has sustained a cartilage injury to the same knee.
Budinger is scheduled to meet with Dr. James Andrews in Alabama early next week to assess the injury, but the Star Tribune and other sources are reporting that Budinger once again needs surgery, and that he will be out indefinitely. He signed a three-year, $15 million contract with Minnesota this offseason.
Andrews, a world renowned physician and the team doctor for the Washington Redskins and University of Alabama football team, has done procedures on many of the top athletes of the 20th and 21st centuries, and did Budinger’s surgery last November.
