The five finalists for the 2015 Mr. Basketball Award were announced Sunday.
They are:
- Sacar Anim, DeLeSalle
- Jarvis Johnson, DeLaSalle
- Bjorn Broman, Lakeview Christian Academy
- J.T. Gibson, Champlin Park
- Marshawn Wilson, Hill-Murray

Anim, a 6-foot-4 forward for the Islanders, recently committed to Marquette. Anim’s teammate, Johnson, will play for Richard Pitino’s Golden Gophers next season. The dynamic duo fueled DeLaSalle to a 24-4 record and the No. 1 seed in this week’s Class 3A State Tournament.

Broman is averaging nearly 50 points per game and recently set the state’s single-game scoring record with a 74-point performance, according to Northland News Center. Broman averaged 49.6 points per game this season, which ranks as the sixth best single-season scoring average in American high school basketball history, according to Max Preps.

Gibson has been a leader for the No. 1 team in 4A, Champlin Park. The Rebels enter the State Tournament with an undefeated, 29-0 record. He’s committed to play college hoops at Nebraska Omaha.
Wilson, the Pioneer Press Player of the Year, averaged 26 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season.
“He doesn’t have a weakness in his game,” Hill-Murray coach Brady Hannigan said. “He shoots the three-pointer at (better) than 40 percent, finishes at the rim, has a pull-up game and, offensively, can hurt you in so many ways. On defense, he relishes any challenge you give him.
“He’ll do very well at the next level and beyond. Scouts from other colleges come to watch him and say that he’ll be playing for money someday, whether that’s in Europe or in the NBA.”
