With the NFL season at its halfway point, Sports Illustrated decided to jump the gun and release their midseason All-Pro team. Ten NFL writers for the website submitted their picks for each position.
Although the Vikings are 5-2, only one Minnesota player made the list and that was safety Harrison Smith.
Here’s what they had to say about the Vikings safety: “The only unanimous selection on defense, Smith has been a beast at the heart of the Vikings’ top-ranked unit.”

With the NFC boasting strong defensive players like Richard Sherman, Patrick Peterson and Luke Kuechly, Smith being the only unanimous selection speaks volumes about how impressive he’s been this season.
He’s also the only member of the NFC North division to be on the list.
The former first-round pick made his first Pro Bowl last season and is currently second on the team in total tackles with 49.
Notable players making the list included quarterback Matt Ryan, rookie running back Ezekiel Elliot and linebacker Von Miller.
