It’s fitting that the Timberwolves earned a 124-122 win over the visiting Boston Celtics on Monday night. In a way, it’s was a birthday victory for former head coach Flip Saunders, who would have turned 61 today.
Saunders died of cancer last Oct. 25, just three days before the season began.
Every coach in the league continues to wear a “Flip” pin on their jackets, and they’ll continue doing so for the remainder of the season.

It’s a bittersweet day for Andrew Wiggins, who turns 21. On Instagram, Wiggins wrote: “There’s no one I would rather share a birthday with. Happy birthday coach! Hope I’m making you proud.”
