The Twins traded right-hander Kevin Correia to the Dodgers on Saturday, and last night he made his debut in Dodger blue.
Correia, who was 5-13 with a 4.94 ERA for the Twins this season, tossed six innings while allowing four hits and one earned run. He struck out five and walked just one. Here’s the game recap from Yahoo Sports.
He also went 2-2 at the plate and scored a run to help the Dodgers top the Braves, 6-2 in Atlanta.
“Like I’ve always said about hitting, luck is better than skill most of the time,” he said. “I kind of proved that today.”
It was a bit of a dream come true for Correia, who grew up in San Diego as a fan of the Dodgers.
According to USA Today, Correia, whose 13 losses were tied for the major league lead when the Twins traded him for a player to be named or cash, is now in the same starting rotation as the reigning National League Cy Young Award winner, Clayton Kershaw.
“I come in and I have a locker next to the best pitcher on the planet (Kershaw). I couldn’t be happier with the spot that I’m in right now.”
“I haven’t had a chance to pitch in meaningful games for a while,” he added.
True. The Twins have lost at least 90 games three years in a row, and they’re only 26 games from making it four consecutive 90-loss seasons.
