Vikings outside linebacker Chad Greenway underwent successful knee surgery Wednesday.
It was a minor procedure to clean up his knee and he is expected to be fully healed by the time training camp opens in Mankato in late July, according to the Pioneer Press.
“We don’t see any side effects occurring,” head coach Leslie Frazier said. “This should help him be ready to go.”
Greenway will miss minicamp next week, which will allow the likes of Audi Cole, Tyrone McKenzie, Larry Dean, Gerald Hodges and Marvin Mitchell get extra work in.
Erin Henderson is expected to start at middle linebacker this season, but he could get some work in at outside linebacker with Greenway on the mend.
If the Vikings can stay healthy between now and training camp, they should arrive in Mankato with only one player’s health in question — Greg Childs. The second year wide receiver is still recovering since tearing the patellar tendon in both knees on the final day of training camp last year.
