The National Hockey League’s Stadium Series comes to Minnesota this weekend as the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks get together for a game of outdoor hockey at TCF Bank Stadium.
Because it’s the official Stadium Series weekend in the NHL, Gov. Mark Dayton proclaimed the weekend to be “Stadium Series Weekend” in Minnesota. The celebration is slightly more advanced than simply calling the weekend what it is.
The 35W bridge in Minneapolis will also be lit up in Wild colors at night.

First up is an alumni game on Saturday featuring former Wild and North Stars players against famous Blackhawks of the past. Then on Sunday the Wild will play Chicago for real, in what will be the first official home game for new interim head coach John Torchetti, who took over the team after Mike Yeo was fired last Saturday.
The stadium has already been converted to a hockey rink.
