The only thing Golden Gophers goalie Adam Wilcox can’t stop is the barrage of honors that keep coming his way.
On Tuesday, Wilcox was named the Big Ten’s Second Star of the Week after helping the Gophers claim four out of six points in a home series against the Michigan State Spartans. He was named the Third Star last week.
Minnesota tied Michigan State on Friday and might have done the same Saturday if not for Wilcox’s sixth career shutout and third of the season in a 1-0 victory. He stretched his personal unbeaten streak to 14 games (10-0-4).
GopherSports.com’s research says the Gophers’ current 14-game unbeaten streak is the longest the men’s hockey program has had since going unbeaten in 22 consecutive games during the 2006-07 season.
According to CBS, Wilcox leads the Big Ten and is second in the nation with 18 wins this season.
The top ranked Gophers are back in action Thursday and Friday when the hit the road against the Wisconsin Badgers.
