Saying it wasn’t close from Williams Arena Thursday may be an understatement.
After scoring 24 of the game’s first 26 points, Minnesota cruised to a 79-57 win over Wofford to improve to 5-0 on the season heading to Hawaii for the Maui Invitational.
Austin Hollins scored 10 of the first 24 Gopher points, so at one paint, he was outscoring the Terriers 10-2.
Things would get better for Wofford after scoring just one basket in the first eight minutes, as they would play Minnesota even the rest of the way.
Still, the Gophers were able to empty their bench in a comfortable victory ahead of the Maui Invitational.
Elliot Eliason put up a nice effort, posting a double-double with 11 points and rebounds apiece, while also blocking seven shots.
Austin Hollins led the Gophers with 18, while Dre Hollins has a nice first half, including this three at the buzzer to get the Gophers to 50 at the break.
That does it for the Maui Invitatonal preliminary games, as the Gophers now travel to Maui itself for a 4:30 p.m. tipoff against No. 9 Syracuse Monday.
