Is the Gopher football team looking at a bowl or bust this weekend against Illinois? Head coach Jerry Kill doesn’t think so, but most critics believe this is the only winnable game remaining on Minnesota’s schedule.
For one of the few times this season the Gophers are actually favored. The latest odds released by USA Today have Minnesota as a three-and-a-half point favorite, even though they’re playing on the road.
It’s also rare when Minnesota has a winning streak on the road against another Big Ten team, but that’s exactly what they have against Illinois. The Gophers have won three consecutive games in Champagne.
Phil Miller covers the Gophers for the Star Tribune, and he has Minnesota ranked ninth in his latest Big Ten Power Poll.
