More turnover at the University of Minnesota as former four-star recruit Treyton Thompson has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
Thompson, a 6-foot-11 forward, announced his decision shortly after Jaden Henley said he was transferring via the portal. The two leaving coincides with 5-star recruit Dennis Evans backing out of his signed letter of intent to instead commit to Louisville, and to-be seniors Jamison Battle and Ta’lon Cooper expected to explore pro basketball opportunities.
Thompson was a four-star recruit from Alexandria, Minnesota. He played sparingly throughout the season, including a total of three minutes in the Gophers’ two Big Ten tournament games. Overall, he started eight games and averaged 2.1 points and 2.4 rebounds per game.
Minnesota now has at least four scholarships available, so they will surely be very active in the NCAA transfer portal to help replace players who are leaving.
Next year’s Gophers roster currently features four upperclassmen, four players who were freshmen this season, and incoming top-100 recruit Cam Christie.
