Fighting their way out of the of the loser’s bracket, the Gophers softball team took down Boise State and Texas on Saturday night to advance to the regional final where they’ll face Washington on Sunday.
Minnesota dropped its opening game of the NCAA Tournament to Texas on Friday, but bounced back with an 11-3 win over Boise State and then staying alive with a 3-0 victory over Texas in a game that went deep into the night on the West Coast.
Kendyl Lindaman had big hits for Minnesota in both wins, coming up with a 3-run double to highlight a seven-run sixth inning against Boise State, then crushing a homer to help beat Texas. Lindaman now has 20 homers on the season, tying the Gophers’ single-season record she set last season as a freshman.

Now the Gophers have to defeat Washington on its home field twice to advance to the Super Regional, which is essentially the Sweet 16 of college softball.

The Washington Huskies are 46-8 this season and ranked fifth in the country. Minnesota is the 25th-ranked team and boasts a record of 41-16.
Sunday’s game starts at 6 p.m. and is available to watch on ESPN3. If Minnesota wins they’ll play the second game immediately after the first.
