The Minnesota Gopher football team will host “College Gameday as ESPN will bring its pregame show to Minneapolis ahead of the Gophers’ season opener against Michigan next Saturday.

This will mark the second time that the Gophers have hosted the pregame show after ESPN aired live from Northrop Mall for their game against Wisconsin last November.
However, this time figures to be much different due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With social distancing and other guidelines in effect, ESPN will have its hosts (except for Lee Corso) in attendance, but have fans participate virtually.
Even if fans can’t be in attendance, the presence of “College Gameday” signals the significance of the Gophers opener.
Minnesota is currently ranked 24th in the latest AP Poll while Michigan sits at No. 19. With the game put into ABC’s primetime slot, it shows how much the Gophers have landed on the national radar after an 11-2 record in 2019.
