A wild game at Williams Arena went to the Gophers on Tuesday night as they defeated Iowa 95-89.
The 95 points was a season high for the Gophers (18-11, 7-9) and kept their hopes for an NCAA Tournament appearance alive. It was the first time the Hawkeyes have lost back-to-back games this season.

Minnesota had trouble closing out the contest as they went without a field goal over the last eight minutes of the game. The Hawkeyes went on a 13-2 run, to cut the Gopher lead from 11 all the way down to just two points in the closing minutes.
But the Gophers made free-throws down the stretch to put the game away, making 15 of 18 in the final 3:02.
The first half was back and forth. Iowa led by 11 at one stretch of the first half, but the Gophers rallied and took a 51-47 lead at the break.
Austin Hollins had a big game for the Gophers he led with a career high 27 points. DeAndre Mathieu also played well he scored 19 and dished out seven assists. Andre Hollins chipped in 14.
Charles Buggs came off the Gopher bench to score 13 points for the Gophers. The redshirt freshman had just five points in his career coming into Tuesday’s game.
Buggs and Austin Hollins combined to make seven three’s in the game. The Star Tribune reports Buggs was 4-for-5 from the field, including 3-of-3 from the three-point line.
