The No. 1 Minnesota men’s hockey team crushed Alaska-Anchorage with a 7-1 victory on Saturday night at Mariucci Arena, Fox Sports North reports. Kyle Rau scored his first collegiate hat trick and Nate Schmidt posted four assists to help lead the Gophers to their first WCHA sweep this season.

Friday night, the Gophers battled from behind to beat the Seawolves, 4-3.
Minnesota will host WCHA rival North Dakota next weekend.
Elsewhere in the WCHA on Saturday:
Minnesota-Duluth edged Michigan Tech, 5-4, to complete the sweep.
North Dakota beat Colorado College, 5-3, to split the weekend series.
Wisconsin defeated Minnesota State, Mankato, 2-1, in overtime for the second straight night.
