Gophers running back Mar’Keise Irving enters the transfer portal

Mar’Keise Irving, who had a strong freshman season with the Gophers, announced Friday that he has entered the NCAA transfer portal.

After injuries sidelined Mohamed Ibrahim and Trey Potts, Irving and Ky Thomas stepped up and led the Gophers rushing attack. Irving finished the season with 699 yards and four touchdowns while averaging 5.3 yards per carry.

Thomas, who transferred to Kansas State, had 824 yards and six touchdowns last season.

brahim is back for his sixth season and Potts returns as a redshirt junior, so the Gophers backfield is still in trusted hands.
