Gophers RB hit so hard ‘M’ decal comes off helmet

In what may be a first, Gophers running back Donnell Kirkwood was hit so hard by a Northwestern player Saturday that the “M” decal came off his helmet.

USA Today took note of ESPN announcer Joey Galloway’s stunned observation of the hit.

For those who missed the game, the Gophers lost to the Wildcats 21-13.
