The No 16-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes were too much for the unranked Golden Gophers in the opening game of the Big Ten season for both teams on Sunday night.
Ohio State, playing at home, never trailed in the 79-59 rout.
Minnesota couldn’t find the bottom of the basketball all night, shooting just 39.2 percent overall, 59.4 percent from the free-throw line and a brutal 0-for-13 night from 3-point range.
Amir Coffey led the Gophers with 19 points and seven assists.

Andre Wesson’s 16 points led a balanced Buckeyes attack that saw six players score in double figures.
The loss drops the Gophers to 6-2 overall and 0-1 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes improved to 7-1 overall.
