While the Gophers are chewing their fingernails, nervously awaiting Selection Sunday to find out if they’ll get invited to the NCAA tournament, fans watching Big Ten tournament games in Indianapolis will be chowing down hot dogs.
But these aren’t your normal hot dogs. Heck, they’re not even “Dome Dogs.” These wieners come in 12 different varieties, each representing a Big Ten university.
The Gophers-themed hot dog is topped with chili, cheddar cheese sauce, diced onions and Frito chips. Across the border, the Badgers-themed hot dog includes Cheetos.

Let’s be honest, though, the NCAA isn’t known for hot dogs. That brand belongs to Major League Baseball. From the Boston Red Sox Fenway Frank to the Chicago-Style Dog available at Wrigley Field to the Pirates Smokehouse Dog to the Texas Rangers Boomstick, a $26 monster anxiously awaiting someone’s bite (not Henry Melton’s) as it lays inside a two-foot bun.
Nonetheless, these Big Ten hot dogs are doing their best to compete, if only for this weekend. We’re not the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, but our team here at BringMeTheNews sat down to rank the dogs, and these are the results.
