Football fans usually won’t see the Gophers in the same sentence with the Oregon Ducks and Michigan State Spartans. But that’s exactly what’s happening today, regarding Minnesota’s top ranked high school quarterback recruit.
Seth Green, a junior quarterback at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, narrowed his list of college choices to Minnesota, Oregon and Michigan State today.
Top 3 the schools are Minnesota, Michigan State, and Oregon.

If you don’t know who Seth Green is, now is a good time to find out. And no… not that Seth Green.
Green is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound quarterback who is widely considered a four-star recruit. ESPN’s Recruiting Nation lists Green as the 15th ranked pocket passer in the Class of 2016. Rivals also lists Green as a four-star prospect.
According to 247Sports, Green thought about “pulling the trigger” and committing to Oregon when he visited the Ducks’ campus and attended the Oregon versus Michigan State game earlier this year. He didn’t commit, but the site tabs Oregon as the favorite to land Green.
Green and the East Ridge Raptors, ranked fourth in the latest state poll, are off to a 4-0 start this fall. Their biggest win was the first in the school’s history against longtime state power Cretin-Derham Hall.
“This is a huge sense of relief to beat them, and it shows we are making steps in the right direction,” Green told the Pioneer Press after the victory.
A victory for the Gophers would be Green putting a maroon and gold hat on when he announces his decision Oct. 17.
