The first Amway Coaches Poll of the 2015 NCAA Division I football season was released Thursday and the Minnesota Golden Gophers sit just outside the Top 25.
Opening the season at No. 34 on the list, Minnesota will have a chance to immediately jump into the top 25 when they open the season at TCF Bank Stadium Sept. 3 against Texas Christian University.
TCU is ranked No. 2 in the poll, just behind reigning national champion Ohio State.

Other Big Ten teams in the top 25 are Michigan State at No. 6 and Wisconsin at No. 18.
Nebraska received votes to place them 33rd while Penn State, Michigan and Maryland all received one vote and were subsequently listed behind the Gophers.
Big Ten Media Days
Thursday kicked off a preseason media event in Chicago for Big Ten teams. Minnesota coach Jerry Kill will have 15 minutes to speak with the media (televised on Big Ten Network) Friday at 8 a.m.
Defensive end Theiren Cockran, defensive back Briean Boddy-Calhoun and quarterback Mitch Leidner are also representing the Gophers in Chicago.
Meanwhile, Minnesota might feel a bit slighted after Big Ten Network didn’t include any Gophers on its West Division Preseason Players to Watch List.
