The Gopher men’s basketball season got underway Sunday evening with a 74-57 exhibition win over the University of Minnesota Crookston at Williams Arena.
The Gophers were behind early in the game, trailing 16-9 halfway through the first half, according to GopherSports.com. But they went on a 15-3 run and by halftime, they were ahead by 30-26.
The Gophers kept up the momentum in the second half, and at one point they led by as many as 23 points.
Freshman Jordan Murphy led the Gophers with 19 points and nine rebounds, WCCO reports.

Nate Mason had 12 points, and Charles Buggs scored 11 points and had five blocks.
Gaston Diedhiou added nine points and eight rebounds for the Gophers.

Crookston was led by freshman Nate Lorenz, who scored 13 points.
Minnesota plays one more exhibition game against Southwest Minnesota State on Friday at Williams Arena.
They open the regular season the following Friday, Nov. 13 against the University of Missouri-Kansas City, also at home.
