This being Cyber Monday, you have until midnight tonight to cash in on a promotion the University of Minnesota is calling “The Golden Ticket.”
For $75, a fan can buy one pass to either nine Gophers men’s basketball Big 10 home games or to all 10 men’s hockey games (played after Jan. 1.).
But there’s a catch. Buying the ticket is actually a gamble.
If you go to a game, and the Gophers lose, that ticket becomes void. It won’t get you in to the next contest on the schedule.
Gophers ticket director Brent Holck tells the Star Tribune the U is “trying to be creative in product offerings.”
The gamble isn’t exactly as alluring as buying a Powerball ticket.
As of Sunday, about 30 Golden Tickets were sold for basketball games — with hockey sales lagging behind that.
