The Minnesota Gophers football team put up big numbers in their 58-28 win over the Indiana State Sycamores on Saturday. The offense led the way with 593 yards of total offense in the win.

It was a balanced attack on the offensive front with Minnesota rushing for 296 yards and throwing for 301 yards. Kobe McCrary led the way on the ground with 177 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns in the win.

Quarterback Mitch Leidner completed 20-30 passes for 295 yards and threw four touchdowns in the win. Leidner’s favorite target was fellow senior Drew Wolitarsky who caught 8 passes for 125 yards including two touchdowns.
With the offense clicking all game, Minnesota’s special teams punted just once on Saturday.
On the defensive side of the football, the Gophers’ run defense was solid with Indiana State rushing for 3.3 yards per carry. The Sycamores accumulated 356 yards of offense in their loss to Minnesota.
With the win the Gophers are 2-0 on the season and have a bye next week. Minnesota will play one more nonconference game against Colorado State on Sept. 24 and will open their Big Ten schedule on Oct. 1 against Penn State.
