The last time the Gophers played North Dakota in men’s hockey was in 2014 when Minnesota stunned the team formerly known as the Fighting Sioux with a last-second goal to reach the National Championship Game.
But the rivalry is on its way back. We learned in October of 2013 that the two schools would meet again in the 2016 season, but we weren’t sure when. Now we know.
According to a report from the Grand Forks Herald, the Gophers and Fighting Hawks will meet on the weekend of Nov. 4-5.
North Dakota and Minnesota will play on the weekend of Nov. 4-5, their first regular-season meeting since Jan. 19, 2013.

The breakup of the WCHA and the invention of the Big Ten hockey conference have taken the bitter rivals to an existence where they rarely play – far cry from when they played every season from 1948 to 2013.
