Gophers quarterback Philip Nelson punter Peter Mortell were named Big Ten Players of the Week for their performances in Minnesota’s 42-39 win at Indiana on Saturday.
Nelson took home the co-offensive player of the week award while Mortell earned the special teams honor.
Penn State running back Bill Belton, who Minnesota will get a first-hand look at on Saturday when the Nittany Lions come to town, was the other co-offensive player of the week.
Nelson threw for a career high 298 yards and 4 touchdowns.
According to the Star Tribune, Nelson is the first Gopher to win Big Ten offensive player of the week since quarterback Adam Weber did so in 2009.
