The Gophers men’s hockey team’s ten game unbeaten streak came to an end Friday night as they lost 2-1 at home to Minnesota State.
Mankato’s Brett Knowles scored the winning goal with 44-seconds left in regulation.
The Gophers had a few scoring chances during the final seconds of the game, but Minnesota State goalie Stephon Williams stopped everything that came his way.
Williams ended the game with 36 saves, including 20 in the final period. Minnesota’s freshman goalie Adam Wilcox stopped 29 of 31 shots.
Nate Schmidt scored the only goal for the Gophers.
The home and home series continues Saturday night in Mankato.
