Jerry Kill could be returning to a sideline near you soon than most think.
Patrick Reusse’s blog in the Star Tribune takes a look at what Kill has been through since taking a leave of absence from the team following a seizure the morning before the Gophers lost at Michigan in early October.
On Tuesday, Kill said he would be back on the sideline “if needed.” For now, defensive coordinator Tracy Claeys will remain the acting head coach on the sideline, with Kill in the press box, increasing his roll in the call of the game even more.
Kill has been able to return to his weekly media duties the last two weeks, too. He was on “Gophers Football Weekly” on FOX Sports North this week looking at film of Penn State.
Kill had no role in the booth while watching the Gophers win at Northwestern, but he’s slowly increased his role in the booth during the wins over Nebraska and Indiana.
A win for Minnesota against Penn State on Saturday would give the Gophers its first four-game winning streak in the Big Ten since 1973.
