The Gophers were out-toughed by Indiana Saturday, losing to the No. 5 team 88-81.
Minnesota got off to a rough start and was down 23 points at the half.
But the Gophers were able to come back and embarked on a massive second-half rally, eventually getting to within three points of the Hoosiers with 19.5 seconds remaining.
Andre Hollins’ missed 3-point attempt in the Gophers’ last possession was followed by Indian’s Christian Watford’s two free throws to widen the gap and end the game.
Indiana’s Victor Oladipo led the Hoosiers with 20 points.
Minnesota’s Andre Hollins led all scorers with 25 points in the losing effort.
Regardless of Saturday’s loss, Minnesota is still considered a final four contender.
The Big Ten is the best conference this season because it has the most teams capable of making the Final Four. Two of them on display at IU.
