No. 19 UMD sent the top-ranked Gopher men’s hockey team to their second loss of the season yesterday, while St. Cloud State took a win and a tie off Colorado College on the weekend.
The results for SCSU were nearly enough to put them on top of the USCHO.com Top 20, but the Huskies fell one point short despite receiving 27 first-place votes to the Gophers 22. No. 6 Ferris State received the other first-place vote.
Minnesota-Duluth rose one spot in the poll for their win over the Gophers, while Minnesota State sits at 31st in the country, the last team in the “receiving votes” category after splitting with Bowling Green, who are three spots above them.
On the women’s side, the beat goes on for the Gophers, who swept Yale this weekend and remain at No. 1 in the USCHO.com Top 10, despite their 62-game win streak coming to an end two weekends ago.
In the sweep, the Gophers continued their road winning streak, which now sits at 36 games, and Brad Frost picked up his 200th career win.
