Gophers wide receiver Devin Crawford-Tufts is skipping the football season to focus on track and field with the Gophers, according to the Star Tribune.
Head football coach Jerry Kill had nothing bad to say about Crawford-Tufts.
“Devin and I have met multiple times over the past couple of months, and he has decided to focus on track and field for the upcoming season,” Kill said in a statement. “Devin is a fine young man. We wish him well and will be rooting for him.”
The junior started eight games as a sophomore in 2012, catching 16 passes for 189 yards. His lone touchdown came in the Meineke Car Care Bowl against Texas Tech.
Crawford-Tufts finished fourth at the Big Ten Championships in 60 meters last year. He was a Minnesota high school champ for Edina in the Class 2A 100 and 200 meters.
