The Gophers men’s basketball team (6-1) may have lost to Duke on Thanksgiving, but they rebounded with wins against Memphis and Stanford over the weekend to take the consolation prize in the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament in the Bahamas.
As a result, Tubby Smith’s team has cracked the Associated Press Top 25 rankings for the first time this season.
In the latest poll, released today, Minnesota is at No. 21. Last week, the Gophers were just outside the Top 25 bubble, ranked 26th.
That win against Memphis also helped Gophers point guard Andre Hollinspick up the Big Ten player of the week honors.
Hollins scored a career-best 41 points against Memphis, and averaged 20 points per game in the holiday tournament.
