
Minnesota’s historic victory over fourth-ranked Penn State vaulted them into the top 10 of the College Football Playoff rankings, coming in at No. 8. The top four teams will head to the four-team national championship playoffs.

The ranking reprints a jump of nine spots from last week’s No. 17 ranking. The Gophers are projected by many to be headed for a matchup with Utah in the Rose Bowl.
Florida, Auburn, Baylor, Wisconsin and Michigan round out teams ranked 11-15.
Penn State tumbled five spots from No. 4 to No. 9 after losing to Minnesota.
Minnesota is ranked seventh in both the (Associated Press Top-25 Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.
The Gophers (9-0) have another tough test this weekend against the Iowa Hawkeyes (6-3), who are ranked 20th in the College Football Playoff rankings. Minnesota has not won at Kinnick Stadium since 1999.
Minnesota closes the season with games Nov. 23 at Northwestern and Nov. 30 against rival Wisconsin.
