The Gopher women’s basketball team was blasted by Illinois on Wednesday night 95-69. It was Minnesota’s fourth loss in their last five games.
The Illini were led by Jacqui Grant, who scored 29 points and grabbed eight rebounds. She was one of three players in double figures for Illinois. Ivory Crawford nearly posted a triple-double, she finished with 23 points, 11 assists and 8 rebounds. Kyley Simmons chipped in 22.
Illinois broke the Gophers down in just about every way. They knocked down 10 three-pointers and finished with 26 assists on 35 field goals for the night.
Amanda Zahui B. led the Gophers with 26 points, while freshman Carlie Wagner added 19 and Shaye Kelley chipped in 10.
The Gophers (17-6, 6-5) return home on Sunday for two in a row. They host Michigan State on Sunday and Wisconsin on Wednesday.
