Despite being the top seed in the Big Ten tournament, the Minnesota Gophers baseball team was eliminated after a 3-2 loss to Michigan on Thursday afternoon.
Minnesota scratched its way to a 1-0 lead in the 3rd inning, before Michigan tied things up in the next frame.
The Gophers retook the lead in the top of the 8th, but the Wolverines scored twice in the bottom half, and in the top of the 9th retired the Gopher bats in order.
Minnesota’s Jordan Smith did have this nifty catch in left field though.

With their loss today, the Gophers’ chance to make the College World Series is up in the air.
