The football Gophers have a new team on the non-conference schedule, the Pioneer Press reports.
Texas Christian University will replace North Carolina on the schedule in 2014 and South Dakota State in 2015.
The series also wipes out the $800,000 lost when Minnesota opted out of playing UNC in the first place.
The 2013 game the Gophers were to play with the Tar Heels has already been replaced with New Mexico State, a highly-criticized move designed to make it easier to reach a bowl game.
While Texas is better known for football than Minnesota, Mac Engel of the Star-Telegram didn’t have to take the below cheap shots at the Gophers, did he?
“Show of hands who knew Minnesota has a football team?”
“Basically, this is like adding another Kansas to the schedule. As any good coach knows, you can never play Kansas enough.”
OK. Those are pretty funny …
