Gophers sophomore wide receiver Andre McDonald will not practice for the rest of fall camp after violating team rules, football coach Jerry Kill said after Saturday’s scrimmage at TCF Bank Stadium, several outlets are reporting.
“We have a team policy that you have to follow,” Kill said about McDonald, according to the Gophers Now blog. “Right now he’s not able to practice. That’s where we’re at right now. He’s not going to be practicing the rest of camp.”
McDonald was suspended for team violations in December before the Gophers played in the Meneike Car Care Bowl against Texas Tech. He missed all of spring practice while dealing with personal issues, reports the Pioneer Press.
A former Hopkins standout, the Star Tribune notes this is a wrong turn in an “erratic career.”
McDonald dropped out of school for spring semester and missed spring practice to work through some personal problems, but he went through summer school and was back with the team for the start of preseason camp.
