After defeating Ohio State University Friday in a shootout win, the No. 2 Gopher women’s hockey team scored a 3-1 victory in the second game Saturday afternoon to sweep the series.
The win puts the Gophers at 57 WCHA league points, which means the Gophers have clinched home ice for the first round of playoffs, according to Gopher Sports.
The standout performer was freshman Kelly Pannek who had three points – one goal and two assists. Senior Rachel Ramsey had two assists at home Saturday.
The Gophers outshot the Buckeyes 44-17. Goalie Amanda Leveille had 16 saves for the Gophers.
Minnesota is now 24-1-4 overall, and 17-1-4-2 in the WCHA. Only six regular season games are left on the schedule.
Next up, the Gophers travel to Grand Forks, N.D., for a two-game series against North Dakota next weekend.
